SARA's April 2024 launch is scheduled for Saturday April 27 from 8 am - 12noon at the SARA "TIMPA" launch site near Picture Rocks.

HIGH WINDS ARE FORECASTED TO BE PRESENT DURING OUR LAUNCH!

Strong winds are forecasted to originate from the south. Please come prepared to FLY THE FIELD accordingly. The means properly angling rods and rails, using correct motors considering thrust to weight ratio, and recovering on our field.

PLEASE NOTE, AGAIN...

WE EXPECT OUR LAUNCH SITE TO BE QUITE OVER GROWN since our last launch! Therefore we will be conducting a site clean up from 8-9am, then launching from 9-12 noon.

And by "WE" we mean all those registered for this launch! Please come prepared to participate in cleaning up the field by bringing your yard tools: weed eaters, rakes, gloves, etc... We will clear out the launch pad areas in order to conduct a safe launch. We won't launch until the pad area is clear.

Those that participate in the clean up effort will receive a special wristband at CHECK-IN indicating your willingness to help, and will be the first to fly once the range opens. All other registrants will receive a green wristband at check-in and will be able to fly after our clean up participants!

  • Pre-registration and on-site check-in are required.
  • Attendance will be granted on a first come, first served basis, so sign up as soon as you can.
  • There is a waitlist available, so if you make a reservation and can't attend, please cancel your reservation up to 24 hours in advance for a full refund so someone else can use your spot.
  • Please consider volunteering to work for an hour during the launch to help keep our launch running smoothly.
  • You must be qualified to serve as LCO or RSO, but the other positions are available to anyone.
  • Launch operations will stop if there are not sufficient volunteers.
  • Public Health precautions in currently effect include:
    • If you or anyone in your family are sick or may have been exposed to someone who's sick, stay home.
    • Consider staying home if you or any family member is at an increased risk of any airborne illness.

As always, while a specific waiver altitude and motor limit is expected, field and sky conditions at flight time may dictate restricted operations. PLEASE BE PREPARED TO FLY THE FIELD regardless of conditions. Remember to wear sunscreen, a hat, long pants and long sleeves, closed toe shoes, carry plenty of water, and always recover rockets with a partner. Watch out for critter holes, snakes, and other desert hazards when recovering rockets. It's a jungle out there!
