SARA's May 2021 launch is scheduled for Saturday, May 15  from 8 am - 11 at the SARA launch site near Picture Rocks. This is the first summer schedule launch of 2021.
  • This launch is limited to 30 attendees during each of 2 sessions.
  • Pre-registration is required.  Attendance will be granted on a first come, first served basis, so sign up as soon as you can.
  • There is a waitlist available, so if you make a reservation and can't attend, please cancel your reservation up to 24 hours in advance for a full refund so someone else can use your spot.
  • There is a mandatory $5 fee (even for members) to cover the new cost of the port-a-potty SARA is required to provide, since access to the traditional TIMPA facilities is limited. This fee applies to all attendees, even if you don't use the facilities.
  • Due to recent shortages in range personnel to work the launch, we are now asking for volunteers to fill specific volunteer shifts. You must be qualified to serve as LCO or RSO, but the other positions are available to anyone. Please consider working a shift and flying a shift! We will close the range any time we do not have staffing to support the launch.
  • Public Health precautions in effect include:
    • Facemasks are mandatory when away from your car.
    • Practice social distancing at all times--park every other space in the parking lot, and maintain 6 feet of space between you and others not in your group.
    • If you or anyone in your family are sick or may have been exposed to someone who's sick, stay home.
    • Consider staying home if you or any family member is at an increased risk of COVID-19 complications.
    • If you don't like the terms on the pre-registration form, you should stay home. It's common sense stuff for running a group event during a pandemic, designed to help ensure the safety of our attendees and to comply with applicable laws. We're trying to make the best of a challenging situation, so we ask for your patience and cooperation.

As always, while a specific waiver altitude and motor limit is expected, field and sky conditions at flight time may dictate restricted operations. Be sure to wear sunscreen, a hat, long pants and long sleeves, closed toe shoes, plenty of water, and always recover rockets with a partner. Watch out for gopher holes, snakes, and other desert hazards when recovering rockets.
