SARA Returns to Flight!

posted Jun 11, 2020, 7:05 AM by James Cramton   [ updated Jun 11, 2020, 7:08 AM ]
After a 3 month hiatus from launch activities, SARA is pleased to return to flight at our 14 June 2020 launch.  However, since we continue to operate in a public health emergency, there are a number of special provisions we will follow for this launch. We will continue to adjust our operating protocols as the situation merits.  Here are the highlights:
  • - This is a member launch, limited to 30 attendees.
  • - Preregistration is required. Priority given to current members, then recent members who renew before the launch (this is you), and then the general public who become members before the launch. Pre-registration is not a reservation; attendance will be on a first come, first served basis, so sign up as soon as you can.
  • - If you don't like the terms on the pre-registration form, you should stay home. It's common sense stuff for running a group event during a pandemic, designed to help ensure the safety of our attendees. We're trying to make the best of a challenging situation, so we ask for your patience and cooperation.
  • - Check-in at the entrance to the parking lot is required for entry. We are doing as much of this as possible touch-free, including pre-registration, check-in, safety inspection.
  • - There is a mandatory $5 fee (even for members) to cover the new cost of the port-a-potty SARA is required to provide, since access to the traditional TIMPA facilities will be limited. This fee applies to all attendees, even if you don't use the facilities.
  • - Details are in the pre-registration form, but key provisions include:
    • - Face masks are mandatory
    • - Social distancing at all times
    • - If you or anyone in your family are sick or may have been exposed to someone who's sick, stay home.
    • - Consider staying home if you or any family member is at an increased risk of COVID-19 complications.
    • - It's been 3 months since anyone used the SARA launch site. Attendees are required to help prepare the field for use. This is primarily a weed clearing chore, so brig a stirrup hoe and/or a rake.
