If you are interested in building a night rocket, Terry Gilpin rounding up a group to purchase some 4" cellulose acetate butyrate tubing. You have probably seen it used on several rockets, as a group of SARA members purchased some of it a few years ago. It is compatible with LOC and PML 4” components.
The price is $3.825 per foot, so each 6 foot tube is $22.95 (plus shipping.)
It requires purchasing in cartons of four 6 foot lengths. We have three folks already signed up, so we are looking for one person to finish up a group of four, and if four additional folks are interested we can purchase eight (or you can always buy more than one!)
More info is at http://www.petropackaging.com/stocksize.cfm P.N. PPS4B O.D. 4” I.D. 3-7/8” Wall 1/16” (.062) PCS/CTN 4 FT/CTN 24 LBS/FT 0.412

I'll take one as well.

My son lives in Tucson. I'll make arrangements for him to pick it up and deliver it to me, possibly Guy's too (if Guy is willing).

| I am interested in getting one tube. How does the weight/strength compare between the 1/16" thick and 1/8" thick tubes. Is the 1/16" plenty strong enough? Is the 1/8" too heavy? |

Just restating... I will take one of these clear 4" tubes. Looks like we have 8 total now according to Craig. Let me know who to send a money order to. Duane |

| I have some samples of the 1/8 in smaller sizes and although it is very tough it is also quite heavy and would require custom nosecones and couplers. I will bring them to one of the SARA launches for folks to look at. The 1/16 will take standard LOC nose cones and with a little sanding standard couplers. My glow light express XL has over 20 flights on it without any issues. It is strong enough for most standard applications. I would not depend on it for over mach flights and if the chute fails to open it will probably be damaged, but for most night flight applications it is great. |

I have placed an order for 8 tubes (2 cartons) for the following: Duane Boldt, Craig Brewer, Kris Chang, Mack Davis, Terry Gilpin, Mark Saunders, Guy Smith, Stephen Witherspoon.
Will let you know the final cost after they figure in the shipping...
If anyone else wants one (or a second one!), please let me know and we can do another order when we have four. |

The tubes are here! Please let me know if you would like to pick yours up at my office (I-10 & Grant Road) or my house (Tangerine & Thornydale).
The total was $257.00 ($183.60 for the tubes, and $73.40 for shipping! and that was with my company's 20% UPS discount).
So each tube is $32.13. |
